How to start rowing at MCSBC

In the summer term school students are given the chance to join Monmouth Comprehensive School Boat Club.

In the middle of the Easter Term, announcements are made in Year 8 assemblies for beginners to try rowing.  6th form rowers also go to all Year 8 forms to tell people about how to give rowing a go.  Older years can also start rowing at this time by seeing DC.

Every pupil wishing to participate in the junior club must pass a swim test (100 metres) and a capize test for safety reasons.

At the end of the summer term, pupils who have done well over the summer term and wish to continue are invited to join the main racing squad.

It is also possible to join the racing squad by opting for rowing in Year 8 PE lessons.  However, as these sessions are only for short periods (6 sessions), the best option is to join the Junior Club.
